Dr JFA Potgieter
Dr. JFA Potgieter is a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician based at Netcare Parklane Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He studied multiple aspects of his field for over a decade, and finished with degrees in Nursing and Medicine before specialising in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Potgieter also completed qualifications in Endoscopic Gynaecological Surgery and Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery through the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery.
Dr. Potgieter completed a number of additional courses to supplement his vast knowledge, including laparoscopic and suturing techniques, advanced trauma life support and advanced cardiac life support.
Dr. Potgieter began his professional career at the Netcare Milpark Trauma Hospital, where he practiced as a registered nurse before completing his medical degree. Once he graduated as a medical doctor, and completed his internship at Dr. George Mukhari Hospital, he took a post at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where he flourished as a medical officer in the casualty, paediatric and gynaecology and obstetrics wards before becoming the registrar in the gynaecology and obstetrics department in 2009.
After completing his Gynaecology and Obstetrics fellowship in 2013, Dr. Potgieter moved on to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg, where he served as a specialist gynaecologist.
In 2014, he opened his successful private practice at Netcare Parklane Hospital in Johannesburg and in 2015 where he has been practicing ever since.
Dr. Potgieter speaks 4 languages - Afrikaans, English, Zulu and Northern Sotho, and is an honoured member of the Health Professionals Council of South Africa, the South African Nursing Council and the Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynaecologists Worldwide.
